Livestock fair

This year, the Sunflower County Livestock Show kicks off at 11 a.m. SATURDAY at the Sunflower Cattle Barn. Come and support your local 4-Hers farm by exhibiting their projects.

Private applicator training

The Sunflower County MSU Extension Service will be offering private applicator training sessions beginning at 9 a.m. THURSDAY JAN. 27, THURSDAY 27 FEB. MARCH 24 and THURSDAY. 24. A fee of $20 per person is charged for the Private Applicator Certification Program. A check payable to MSU-ES is the preferred method of payment – NO CASH. Call 662-887-4601 for more information.

The Sunflower County Soil and Water Conservation District holds its annual tree giveaway on FRIDAY FEBRUARY. 11 at the Farm Service Center located at 212 N. MLK, Indianola. Distribution will begin at 8 a.m. and continue until everyone has left. Come early as stocks are limited. Questions can be directed to Tammy Kitchens at 662-207-8264.

Blood collect

Planters Bank, along with MS Blood Services, will be holding a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on FRIDAY FEB. 11 at their 521 Hwy. 82, Indianola, location. Donors will receive $15 Visa gift cards.

ServSafe® Food Safety Course

Attention restaurateurs, managers and/or employees who need ServSafe® certification! The ServSafe® Food Safety Course will be offered at Indianola from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. TUESDAY FEB. 15 at the Extension Office, 112 South MLK Dr., Indianola. The cost is $140 per person. Space is limited so register today. If you have any questions or would like registration information, please contact Ann Twiner, MSU-Extension Agent at 662-887-1901. Don’t put your foodservice businesses at risk while waiting to be ServSafe® certified. (This class is held in the upstairs auditorium of the Sunflower County Extension. If you require special accommodations, please notify them 2 weeks in advance).

Sunflower Embroiderers

Sunflower Stitchers meet the third Wednesday of each month (next date: February 16) at the Sunflower County Extension office. Their community service project is “Welcome Baby Bags” for newborns at South Sunflower County Hospital. For more information, call Ann Twiner, MSU-Extension Agent at 662-887-1901.
