Manheim offers its customers additional protection for digital purchases – Remarketing

The added protection comes at a time when a carrier shortage has converged with more dealers buying vehicles in digital markets.

Manheim gives customers two additional days to arbitrate if a vehicle arrives outside the standard 10-day timeframe under its Digital Buyer Protection program which covers digital purchases and shipping through Ready Logistics, according to a press release from 21 October.

This arbitration extension will give dealers more time to evaluate vehicles and file a claim, if necessary. This feature comes in when there is a shortage of carriers, forcing more dealers to buy vehicles digitally.

“With most customers purchasing vehicles digitally, we do everything possible to provide a seamless, intuitive and connected experience for our customers,” said Connie Suozzo, vice president of Manheim Digital, in the press release. “This arbitration extension is another way to show customers that we are committed to giving them less hassle when they buy vehicles digitally from the Manheim marketplace and use Ready Logistics for transportation.”

The Arbitration Extension gives customers who purchase a vehicle through one of Manheim’s digital sales channels (Simulcast, Manheim.com, Manheim Express and OVE) and transport that vehicle with Ready Logistics two additional days to file a claim. arbitration, if transport delays occur and the vehicle arrives outside the standard arbitration period. To be eligible, customers must order transportation through Ready Logistics within two days of purchase.

Ready Logistics, a brand of Manheim Logistics, provides full-service vehicle transportation services, providing customers with a white-glove experience with a network of over 6,500 fully vetted carriers. Manheim has invested tens of millions of dollars over the past two years to transform the logistics business and improve the customer experience.

About 80% of Manheim’s purchases go to digital buyers, and data from Manheim Logistics shows these dealerships are buying vehicles from further afield. In 2021, Manheim Logistics saw the average vehicle travel distance by dealers double from 225 miles in the first quarter of 2020 to 455 miles on average in the first quarter of 2021 and remaining around 460 average miles in the third quarter of 2021. Taking into account longer distances, the two days to file a claim for arbitration makes sense for customers.

Launched in January 2021, Digital Buyer Protection is an umbrella offer for digital buyers buying on Simulcast, Manheim.com, Manheim Express and OVE. The program applies to digital purchases and has increased the number of items eligible for arbitration on condition reports resulting from inspections performed at a Manheim site or by a Manheim Express concierge.
