Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) marks the end of the second quarter with a total of 56,460 vehicles sold in South Africa since January 2021. The company’s spearhead is the country’s favorite bakkie, the Hilux, with 19 818 units sold. , year to date. For the month of June, the Hilux totaled 3,320 sales. The Hilux made a remarkable contribution to TSAM’s total sales of 9,630, with an overall market share of 25% for June.
Other notable performances in June included the Hiace, which sold 1,269, the Starlet (1,165), the Fortuner (819), the Urban Cruiser (591) and the Quest which ended the month with 490 units. Strong sales for Hino
On the truck side, Hino sold a total of 225 units in June. The 300 Series recorded 149 sales (23% of the Medium Utility Vehicle segment), while the 500 Series ended the month at 71 units (14.9% of the Heavy Utility Vehicle segment).
Turning to domestic industry sales, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (NAAMSA) said: 7.6% was sales to the car rental sector, 3.9% to fleets business sector and 2.2% to government sales â€.
TSAM is proud that its Parts’ Supply business has distributed no less than 1.4 million items to national dealerships, while another 320,000 parts have been shipped out of the country. TSAM also recorded the highest vehicle exports last month, with a total of 7,497. According to NAAMSA: “Vehicle exports continued to climb during the month.
