Lycoming College’s Enhanced Academic Experience Center (CEAE) helps students identify their interests in the world of careers, and according to Lycoming College, for jobs and opportunities that allow them to develop intellectually, professionally and personally. Help with research.
CEAE has a career advisor integrated into the faculty. This will allow students to have access to guidance counselors who are familiar with their field of study.
Specializing in business administration, accounting, economics and corporate communication, Landon was recently able to connect great opportunities with UPMC graduates through another graduate.
“I really like making that type of connection,†Landon said. “It’s very gratifying to see students get the jobs they dream of and employers get a valuable addition to the workforce. It is a mutually beneficial situation.
While in college, Jena Hampton ’18 interned at River Valley Health and Dental as part of her business practice, sparking a keen interest in healthcare. However, at the time of graduation, there weren’t many local opportunities in this area. Hampton applied for a management training program at Enterprise Holdings and was subsequently hired.
Ever since Hampton came into contact with Lycoming University, Landon knew that former students were still interested in pursuing a position in health care. When Luke Klingler ’15 asked if a recent graduate was interested in a job at UPMC, she immediately thought of Hampton.
“What I love about Lycoming is the graduate connection,†says Klingler. “I think the networking is really important because some of the other jobs were done by former graduates.”
Like Hampton, Klingler benefited from an internship organized by CEAE. He was offered a business associate position at the UPMC Heart & Vascular Institute in Williamsport. Two years later, he applied for a line of neuroscience and rehabilitation services and acted as practice director. That’s when he reached out to Landon about a potential opening for students. Hampton started out as a sales assistant for his team.
Regarding how this opportunity has affected his career path, Hampton said, “This opportunity has opened the door to movement and growth within the UPMC system and to managerial experience within the healthcare facility. “
Klingler is currently the Executive Director of the UPMC Heart & Vascular Institute in Williamsport. He manages, executes and supervises the staffing of the medical practice. “It can certainly be stressful at times, but I love it,†Klingler said. “I enjoy interacting with providers and healthcare teams. After all, we are all here to help patients. I may not be the one operating the patients. , Can help build teams and physicians to be successful. “
Hampton is currently the Practical Manager of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at UPMC. In this role, she manages the practices of physiotherapy and rehabilitation, rehabilitation psychology and osteopathic manipulative medicine. She also manages staff and prepares data entry files for scheduling use and productivity.
To maintain his involvement with the university, Hampton keeps in touch with the graduate and his solo, Beta Phi Gamma. Klingler is an assistant coach for the Lycoming men’s soccer team. Together, Hampton and Klingler are making a conscious effort to find opportunities for graduates and improve the reputation of the university’s excellent networking system.
